Shoulder a Coffin, Kuro, Volume 1

Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro, Volume 1 - Satoko Kiyuduki

Shoulder a coffin Kuro review

Art: -Flips open a page- Awwwwwwwwww its so cute! Whose a cutie wutty yes you are -hem- The artwork with in this manga is Adorable chibi like yet not chibi an un-categorized style of just plain adorable and with the format(to be discussed in story section) it works out wonderfully A

Characters: Kuro, sen, sanju, nijuku. Kuro (who's real name is unknown to the reader) is a travler who gets mistaken for a boy and every which thing because of her coffin she is blank most of the time hard to read emotion wise and a mystery, Sen is her wise cracking talking bat, and Sanju and nijuku are twin girl creatures with cat ears and tails and many ability (like detachable shadows) over all the characters are cute and corkey although the twins -while fascinating- can be annoying as anything as can sen the characters are fun and play off each other well B

Story: As mentioned briefly in art the format of this manga is different the basic layout of this manga is four panels you read down this is the japanese equivalent to our American sunday comics in the newspaper style with simple four panel comics normally used for a quick gag normally. However as well as that you have some pages that are normal and some that are even in color and in that Shoulder a coffin Kuro is very unique. The story is not a gag like you would expect from a four panle strip instead it's a simple story of a girl (who gets mistaken for a boy) on a journy and her interactions with people. Simple fun. But it doesn't just stop at that there is a mystery behind a kuro that you don't see till the near end actually you don't even think much of it till the near end as well. This story is fun and sweet and while its not unputadownable you'll also find yourself shocked when its over just because it didn't feel like it took that long once you finally put the time into sitting and reading it. Despite a slow start and some bumps here and there this is a very one of the kind hard to describe story that you should look into if you are into manga or even just new to it B

Cover: Awwwwwww Kuro with her coffin simple eye catching and cute to boot this is a cover that says “read me I wuve you” so cute >3< B

Rating: T for teen

Company: Yen press

My rating : 4 of 5 just because it took me a while to really sit down and pick it up but once I did I didn't want it to end when it finally did I added book 2 on my to reads list and yes book two is the end this is a 2 manga series and ADORABLE in the end I ended up liking it more then I thought I would and it did meet my expectations overall
