Fair game a review

Fair Game - Patricia Briggs

Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000167 EndHTML:0000003862 StartFragment:0000000457 EndFragment:0000003846

I think out of all the books including Iron kissed this is the first in this universe to give me a wake up in tears crying nightmare. That in of it's self should tell you how good this book is. As always the Alpha and Omega series does something that the Mercy Thompson series doesn't get into as much: background detail. The deeper inner workings of humans vs Other kind, a more in depth look of Dominance and submission etc.

Anna and Charles you two are the greatest example of a positive relationship I've seen in an adult book (not that I read many adult books). Take away the magic, the werewolves, and the extream cases and you have a young wife married to an older man who due to his job is drifting away from his wife. He is only trying to protect her but instead makes her feel less then and neglected. I feel that any 20 something in a relationship can relate to this stuck knowing that no he isn't cheating on you thats not the cause for the distance yet he's also not letting you help either. Another thing that Fair game (as the other books did) does well is show the very real Dominate/submissive dynamics both in every day life as well as a relationship. I feel many people are not aware of the dynamic meeting ones eyes, body language, etc all things that play out in day to day life as well.

Beyond the more realistic aspects of your fair game the supernatural and paranormal mixed with a touch of murder mystery made fair game a compelling read that once you start the only reason to stop or go slow is to savior it it was only the last two chapters that were almost to hard to get though more due to content then pacing ( the character in question is talking about raping said people but they have to be human this kind of talk goes on for about eight or so pages but it feels longer). I think the one thing that can be taken away from this amazing work of fiction is that the scariest monsters aren't always the other kind. That the justice system is flawed and that no one questions they only praise or fear or hate. But that one should rise above that.

I think dear Fair game if I were to praise you it would be on your characters Anna and Charles, the growth of their relationship and as individuals, your fast yet slow burning mystery of fast page turning action and above all the world building and glimpses into Dominant and Submissive behaviors

Dearly yours

Purplewolf

My rating: 4 out of 5. I took a star for the subject matter of Rape and well just the mer fact that this book gave me a nightmare where they were after me as anna and I ended up waking up crying. In short a star taken for scary matters and nothing with plot or character or even pacing. I should mention I'm also listening to another book with much more brutal and grisly details but this is the book to give me a nightmare. Kudos. As always I loved this book but can't really say much since it is a tantalizing mystery. I loved it plain and simple.

Dear Sinner (A book review)

Sinner - Maggie Stiefvater

Dear Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

Isabel, Cole I've missed you guys. It's Funny St.Calir, when I first met you in Linger I couldn't stand you after you stopped Grace's father and defended Sam sayingYou're a son of a bitch. He belongs here more then you do.” I warmed up to you much more, by forever I was wondering how you made it and if you and Isabel would have a romance. People are saying your story is “Angst” but I don't see it like that. There are also people who want to just dive into this story and are upset when the background to you two and your relationship isn't there. I admit it's sad people see this as angst. This is a slow burning countiueing character study of a book and this isn't a book you would want to hand to someone who is reading shiver for Sam and grace. This isn't angst either this is a book of hard words and harder lives of breaking and fixing and finding. To anyone finding this and reading this if you have read and loved Shiver, Linger and Forever Sinner is not that. This will turn a lot of people off, Cole was never Sam his story was never fluffy and lyrical despite the prose in linger and forever, this is more his story, and Three books written in hard words, and crushing cliffs, dead and rich things, have shaped this from the earlier Maggie Mercy Falls books this isn't a bad thing. This is a slow paced book and not one for readers who want fast paced stories. This is a riggid story about broken people for lost people. This isn't a book you can pick up and read, this is a book to be analogize, to read as slow as possible to get the meaning behind every scene and every word. To read it as slow as syrup because want to hear from old friends from mercy falls.

Speaking of old friends Sam? Grace? I've missed you. It's because of you two that I found the relationship I wanted so I was more then happy when you both  were mentioned and make small cameo's and your lives are explored in a line or more but it's enough to make it worth while. I won't say anymore. Similar to the first three books in the series this is a series that needs to be explored yourself. Is it wrong that the parts that got me excited where when Cole is talking about the suicidal parts of himself how messed up is that? Cole and Isabele both drop to their lowest point but its okay its how they grow.

Sinner? I want to thank you for two other things as well. One, Thank you for awnsering my question of if tamatos are bad for dogs. I had dropped a cherry tomato that night and picked it up before my dog got it concerned but unsure if it was bad but not wanting to take chances. I read that two hours later and admitly this being a work of fiction I know Mrs. Stiefvater does her extensive research on things thus I fully trust this is correct.
And secondly thank you for getting me excited for California, I'm going on a trip soon and was dreading it but the way you discribed it with the characters you chose made me excited for it.

“I want you to love this book or hate this book no in between” the author said and I think that is how this book is, not many people will love it but thats okay. I Loved this book. I think it's just because I relate to the characters both on such a level. This book makes me want to make, This book makes me want music. This is the Mercy falls book that gives us the spark of cole and isabel and makes it into a flame hot and passion and back and forth. Some will love it some will hate it but like California or music its something that needs to be Experienced for ones self

The midnighters: Touching darkness review

Midnighters #2: Touching Darkness - Scott Westerfeld
When I tired explaining this book to my mom she replied with “it sounds boring” the more I thought on it the more I realized she was right. This series is not plot friendly, if you are a deep plot loving reader then the midnighters is not the series for you.

I read “The midnighters: secret hour” April 23-27th 2010. April 2010 let that sink in. In four years the ending still stuck out to me so I thought “why not finish the series then?” Reading book two made me realize why book one stuck out to me for four years.

The characters.

Guys this book is so character driven the plot could have been about finding a lost cat and it wouldn't have mattered. Melissa, Rex, Dess, Jonathan, Jessica all these amazing wonderful characters.
I wish we had gotten more of the five of them together as well as more on Melssia and rex's shared past the jumps from midnighter to midnighter leaveing so much open was frustrighting as really Melissa and rex's dynamic and how dess fits into their friendship was the best part.

If I had to complain about one aspect of the book it was the switching. More to the point the breaks something will happen then its 12:00am midnight or something will almost be revealed but then nope 8:45am the next day I wanted to know more about Rex's tramatic past, or melissa and him as friends rather then the jumping around.
The idea of a hybrid....could have gone better. While the characters were the strong point the plot was full of questions and holes and conflict. You spent more time running with the other midnighters then them as a unit a group a messed up team so the plot suffered for that

My rating: 3.5. I gave it a four on goodreads since they don't do halfs.

Silver Borne Review

Silver Borne - Patricia Briggs
Can we talk about this cover for a moment? Before I get into the story I want to talk on this cover.
Before reading this series I'd seen this cover so many times, I was even tempted to ask my grandma to buy the book in a boarders going out of business sale just to own the cover, This cover is my favorite out of all of Dan Dos Santos works on the Mercy Tompson covers the tattoos so well done with the wolves and flows the way her back looks arched like that head slightly turned holding the book the colors rich and deep in real life. I love this cover.
As for the story this one took me by surprise. Fae stories and I don't get along, book three of this series was an “okay” book for me and I wasn't sure how well this one would have faired either. I highly enjoyed it, If I put it down it was only to work on a art piece or taking a break this had enough of the Werewolves in it to make me happy, enough mystery to keep me reading, and enough character development to keep my satisfied
Learning more about pack bonds, suicidal werewolves, and the whole mate bond was fascinating if a bit much at times pack rank could get a bit murky. The fae epically a new character named Ari were great and enjoyable. Jesse Adams daughter really takes charge in this one making her even more great a character then she already was.

Adam and Mercy's relationship is always a joy to read about, Mercy's view of the pack and her view of her, Mercy's role in the pack, sexy, sensational, and deep

Raven boys review

The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater

Raven boys review

Audio: This is a book that if you can't get into it though normal reading would have to be a must listen to as a second try. Even if your not normally an audio book fan the narration Will Patton will suck you in. First off his voice in of it's self is hypnotizing with a light drawl that makes the story at once feel cozy yet mystical. Second he then does the voices of each character (even the women) distinctively when he is Adam you know he is reading adam, No one could be ronan other then that voice he puts in. Each voice fits the characters, these fictional people. Even during the first few chapters where the story slightly drags there's still something in his voice where you don't mind listening. A

Characters & Story : Lively. As always the characters are realistic every single one of them even background characters have a feel of realism to them. Gandsy smooth talker, the kind of boy who leaves an impression on someones. Blue the sensible girl who decorates her room and dresses as a way to say “hey I'm unique” and she is. Ronan violent explosive the kind of boy moms never want their child dating for fear that he will do something a lot worse then just bed them. But he also has a caring side although its hard to see it unless it has to do with taking care of a someone. Adam the poor boy at a rich school making his way as best he can with the hand he's being given. Noah the boy who blends into the background and is just as quite. Those are only the main five characters with in the book we have six others who are also just as vibe-rent and get just as much screen time. Wielk the teacher at aglenby who hates his life and his job. Blue's family, Adams family, even gandsy and ronan's familys are all colorful, different, and alert.

The story it's self is one over arching plot (the search for glindower), mixed with five interweaving plots, With one boy as the central plot (has a begging, middle, and conclusion to which said point won't be brought up to such a degree in other books). This is not a book you can just sit and automatically get into this story will take some time to get into but once it does you'll fall hard and fast for the characters as this is character driven that is the main hook. Plot wise this is a story about five teens looking for magic, as well as a mysteries woven in. To say anything more would spoil this story however this is very much an adventure, action, well balanced with romance and a character study kind of story. A

Cover: A raven. Of course but its more then that Adam S Doyal's work of swirls and paint edges make it look mystical some how. He is also the cover artist for the paperback of the Scorpio races. His artwork of blues, blacks and one pop of red really makes the cover stand out and fits everything about the story. A+

My rating : 4 of 5. This isn't the first time I've listened to an audio book but it is the first time I've excitedly wanted to ride in the car for hours just to listen to more. The raven boys is one of Maggie's best. I loved it once I really got into it and I'm so so so happy I gave it another try. I'm now eagerly awaiting “Dream thieves” on audio so I can continue fallowing these amazing characters.

Will patton's voice is now one of my favorites I love how he did Ronan's voice and I love when he had to do two voices at the same time it was brilliantly done. If you love anything written by Maggie you have to give this one at least two tries you won't be disappointed

SPOILER ALERT!

Fullmetal alchemist 17-27

Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 27 (Fullmetal Alchemist, #27) - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 22 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 18 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 20 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 25 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 24 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 17 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 23 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 19 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 21 - Hiromu Arakawa

So now all the deadly sin's have been shown. If you are familiar with the anime only or only knew this series and its characters from the anime only it will come as a shock when wrath, pride and sloth are revealed. Pride in the anime is king bradley whom isn't pride in the manga for example.

This is why I love this series the humor is still good the characters are amazing, in vol 19 you have one page of back and forth text between roy and hawkeye it seems like a meaningless filler conversation but at this point in the game the reader should know better, turns out to be a code to roy about another one of the deadly sins. In book 20 again a similar thing happens character to character in a chain tell each other the life or death information the other's need to know. The awnser to who “father” and the elrics real father are is also come to light, what and who they are. Even the characterization with greed is fleshed out, he might be on the bad side but he is no villein.

The ending is something else, while I won't spoil it everything about it is perfect the ending and the characters its the end of a era in the book and this series is one that can't be reviewed in all honesty it has to be read or watched but hopefully both

It was a fun crazy ride and I'm happy I stuck with it as I have and now that its over its sobering thats all that can really be said

Fullmetal alchemist review (7-16)

Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 08 - Akira Watanabe, Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 11 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 14 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 12 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 13 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 16 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 15 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 07 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 09 - Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 10 - Hiromu Arakawa, Akira Watanabe

Fullmetal alchemist is the Harry potter of manga. Little things come back in a big way, people, towns even conversations you think are trivial in fact come back in a way you don't expect. This series has many different twists and turns and revelations.

Colonial mustang and hawk eye, as well as Edward elric are my favorite

I like envy's ability

I think the big bad making the anti-heros of the seven deadly sins is Ed and Al's father but that could be speculation

The fights are brilliant and really well done

The civil war and the ishbalan's could be seen as any of the wars with the Native Americans way back when, or the war in iran the parallels are stunning

Voulme 15 is one big flash back volume but it is very much needed and so so heart breaking. It shows the sickness in war, the sickness in king Bradly, The motivation of the characters is amazing and fleshed out so well. This volume will almost make you cry. Its sick and hunting

At this point plots are in motion, Al and Ed still have to get their bodies back and this war is far from over. The question now is if that guy who looks exactly like their father isn't their father then who is he?

I enjoyed these books very much although it is getting to be a bit complex and wordy with a dash more politics it's still intriguing none the less

I guess I should warn you now to be able to review the rest of these properly there is going to be spoilers

Juniper berry

Juniper Berry - M.P. Kozlowsky, Erwin Madrid
Juniper berry

Characters: Juniper, Giles and a memberable cast of characters mostly. Juniper is a unique girl with only two friends, a love of books, knowledge, the truth, and a collection of Spy glasses and dodads. While Juniper might not act exactly like a normal elven year old at times seems much older then her age she is still a child protagonist. Brave, smart, inquisitive Juniper is a role model way beyond her years. Giles is the woobie the everything bad happens to boy. You just want to hug him and tell him everything will be okay. Giles is weak but strong, smart but stupid and above all a friend. Mr. and Mrs. Berry were also well done as were the other characters. The only nitpick is while these characters have depth some are lacking a backstory or something to give that depth a push, Gailes, Mr and Mrs berry, the axe man, they were very colorful but lacked a backstory or a little bit more of a push of depth however these characters were over all remeberable and stunning B

Story: Finely written a story that anyone of any age could read and appreciate. The adventure that Juniper and Giles go though is one that spans beyond age limits. . These characters and what they went though could be translated into a YA so easily “ The lonely girl and the unwanted boy” characters whos views (if older) could be twisted into something more depressing then what the words say. Giles cold, wet, and scared wanting to escape the world. Juniper who so wants to be accept somewhere and be part of something. These themes are so grown up and is written so flawlessly that its easy to get cought up in this world. The plot it's self is marvelous done with the basic “ Deal with the Devil” idea mixed with some pretty grown up themes of belonging, and yearning for things not there but told in such a simple adventure story of two kids trying to save their parents from the big bad guy. While the idea, plot, and writing were very well done and will interest reluctant readers (readers in general or just readers of Middle grade) it's not with out its flaws. While interesting for older readers the story will fall very predictable something said, or an action or just the general out coming will be predictable also while most of the questions are answered and handled well some are not. A spicfic character knows something about something but we don't know why also while we know Mr and Mrs. Berry made a deal with the underground monster we don't know how. That is a question that is left and makes more questions How did they find that tree? How did they find underground monster? Why did they do what they did? Did others know of this underground? How did they get there? Is there more then one point of entrance? More questions arise at the end of the book as well but due to spoilers won't be asked here.

Evenly pasted with a touch of creepy, a hint of mystery, an adventure, a promise of a good read and a friendship this is a story that while still flawed is one of a kind. B

Cover: Eye catching and captivating. The tree with the authors name carved into it while the title is knarnled tree branches the raven, and of course Junpier and Giles. Juniper looking like a younger disney princess from “Brave” with the pale yellow orange of the sunset atmosphere this cover is very tim burten A

Rating: MG ages 8-12

Company: Walden pond press (Harper collins)

My rating : 4 of 5 I really enjoyed this book while I did find some of it predicable and some unanswered questions frustrating as it lowered my rating for it. It remind me of when I was obsessed almost with souls and soul stealing and all that stuff. Not only that but I kept thinking of Giles was older stating he didn't care about getting wet, his “I want out of this world” could be taken to depressed suicidal if in a YA and that is what makes this a fun story that you can play with the characters and take there words to adult meanings. It also is very reminiscent of Neil gaimans work Caroline in many ways

Hunting ground review (Alpha and omega book two)

Hunting Ground - Patricia Briggs

Characters &Story: This series just keeps getting better. As always with PB's books there are characters to keep in order which can be tricky more then once its easy to get two of the A name characters confused. The story it's self as with the first book felt lacking for the first twelve pages but then found its groove and pacing. Anna has grown she is a capable woman, omega, wife, mate, she really shows her own. Her relationship with Charles really expands in this one and is shown and explained from both angles. Charles is also shown from both angles as his assassin side comes out his killer side for his father as well as his protectiveness over anna and his deep deep

love and devotion for her.

The plot it's self is rift with mystery that keeps one turning pages, but slowly. Unlike its previous book there's nothing really that makes this book lag or slow in a boredom way quite the opposite. If one reads this slowly its for the rich writing and characters its so everything can be absorbed and gushed over and looked into on a deep level.

The third person writing gives a better overview of the world that is the Mercy Thompson universe it gives better working into the politics, the creatures, and the system of the world as well as a better insight into anna and charles from their view of each other which makes one fall for the characters all the more so. The mystery is slow cooking and works great with the backdrop of a political battle B+

Cover: Dan Dos Santos artworkhowever there is a issue. While it is beautiful and stunning with charles as wolf looking at the reader and anna holding/hugging him a wold bracelet on her wrist and her hair color the way it should. The one catch is her eyes while charles is glowing his wolf gold hers is reflective of that. If she's human here (might be) then there is no real issue but if she is mentally shifted into her wolf then her eyes should be ice blue in color. But that is a very small nitpick to this amazing artwork. B+

Rating: Adult

Company: ACE Fantasy

My rating : 4 of 5 I love this series almost as much as the Mercy tompson series it is just that good. I already explained the time line stuff in its own post so no need to bring it up here. I love the slow burning yet not boring books like this its truly something and engaging. And this time around the sex scene/s didn't throw me off like they did in book one.

Bone crossed Review

Bone Crossed - Patricia Briggs

 Bone crossed review

Characters & Story: As always there are more characters then one can count, yet they are not over whelming and each is memorable. Stefen is one character that despite being a major player is only seen a handful of times, He's been beaten, tortured, and sent adrift. He is a vampire calculating, loyal to the upmost, funny, and kind even if he doesn't think so being so guilt ridden. With this much to build up on he should have been present a bit more then he was. However for what is lacking is made up for with great character moments between him and mercy as well as great pop culture references. Despite the lack of Stefan there is enough vampire and vampire politics to keep anyone enthralled. Marsilia and the seethe are back, something within the seethe has changes but marsilia has not cold, cruel, calculating, but not with out reason, showing a side that -like Stefan- could be used against her someday. Although this is a Vampire based book that hardly means Adam and the pack are left out. Alpha Adam, the businessmen man, negotiate, top dog, and lover. He shows many sides depending who he's with as always fighting with Mercy but also giving time to understand her situation, The pack like wise either finds reason to hate her or understand and like her as much as normally they would. Lastly Mercy who has been though trauma, is now having panic attacks at the closeness of Adam and...is handling it in stride. While she is still making mistakes this time around its not just foolishness on her part, while she is still scared she still fights back. What happened in the last book isn't brushed aside and she's all smiles or she is a trembling mess every hour it's a nice blend. She is still tough car fixing, shapeshifting Mercy but dealing with things new to her such as a panic attack. As most of the Mercy Thompson books this is a character driven or plot driven story depending on what is going on.

There are five different plot points in this book woven together some points are clearly character driven, Mercy Getting over what happened to her in the last book is clearly character driven, as is Adam's choice, Both these parts of the story felt removed from the over all plot having a different flow then the over arching plot it's self, It never took away from the story however merely adding to it but it was visible that the flow was different here. The last three points of the plot differ the flow is clearly different but its more then that Arguably Stefan's part in the story could be seen as character driven as it has the same pull as the character driven parts, however it can also be seen as plot driven as well. The Plot driven part's are fast pasted and suspense or action filled although there is some slight bumps and lags here or there but what book doesn't have that. While the book will keep you flipping pages (even against your will when your tiered after reading a lot) about half way though the plot seems formalistic to that of the second book, Stefan in hot water, a crazed vampire, Stefan appearing for reasonable chunks and being missing for just as much, Mercy getting caught up in crazy. While like book two it makes a great read it also feels lacking in spots this however does not damper on the stories awesome ways. Book four is exactly the kind of story that was needed after book three and to see where it goes from here is half the fun. B+

Cover: Dan Dos Santos artwork is some of the best of course. Mercy with a crowbar standing in the rain, the blue shiny background as always nicely done. B

My rating : 4 of 5. Of course it is. I enjoyed this one so much and it has been quite a while since I read a good good “don't want to put it down” book, I love stefen so much “evil” or no I adore him. Warren as well of course, and the rest of the pack and such. I loved this story Stefen in a suit is funny. The ending I loved the ending and although I hated one part of it but it was probably for the best I can't wait to see what happened next. I also changed the format of the review slightly seeing as this kind of book the characters and plot intertwine and by this point I'd end up rehashing my same old lines over and over I think I'll keep it this way for some books

Art: Classic shonen boy manga style some pictures looked questionable like squiggles but the over all art and character art is very solid

A

Characters: Each character is fleshed out very well and given depth so when the last volume came out the characters futures were very secure and given happy endings, unlike most shonen or children manga where the characters always win or are goody to the core or are the same though out. these characters grow and change. They lose on occasion but win small battles sometimes each character is likeable in their own right or are despicable in their own right but they always have a motive so its not out of no where even the villains backgrounds are shown giving them depth

A+

Story: 19 novels total of 17 stories that round up into one nice happy ending. There is foreshadowing, flashbacks, deep characters, and nice art to. The fights in the manga though repetitive at times only last one or two chapters big boss fights last longer. The story is intriguing for both boys (the aim) and girls (out of no where turn of events) and enough reasonable fan service for each gender to enjoy. One or two stories seem to be thrown in at random but really aren't over all great story

B

Cover: intriguing the spines are what make you stare because they have different characters on them something unique about these is that they are in a rainbow every color reds of all shades, blues, aqua, and purples making it a one of a kind on the manga scene

The wolf

The Wolf - Steven Herrick
The wolf

Characters: Lucy, Jake, the wolf, and the parents. Lucy is a girl who was dealt a bad hand abusive father, annoying brother, passive mother she is silent, strong, at times meek. Jake has a good life and his one goal is to prove his fathers Wolf is real he is level headed, smart, caring. The wolf is the catalyst for jake as well as lucy. The characters in this are done well you feel for lucy, hate her father, find her brother annoying, love jake. There is a depth with these characters and you can see them as actual people B+

Story: This book will surprise you in that the summery doesn't give you an exact picture of the story and yet it does. This is Lucy's story more then jakes lets make that clear. While jake does get some page time out of the 214 pages lucy narrates 72 times this is her story more then anything. That is the only misleading thing about the summery if you misread it.
The story it's self was good Lucy wants to escape her house hold, jake wants to find the wolf, instead they learn and “find” each other. While the romance is too out of the blue and too quick it is also sweet and understandable. The story is real and raw the only nitpick about it is that peter (Lucy's brother) narrative was stupid, naïve, and will make the reader want to punch him. The second nitpick is that this really is Lucy's story meaning jake felt more like a side character at times then anything else (near the end especially) However over all “The wolf” is a must read for verse novel fans B

Cover: Once you see what it is its not bad. But first impression is that its to dark to see the protagonists on the front. It's a little to dark and plain to really catch anyones eye and only those familiar with Steven Herrick work will seek this out based on title and author alone. The cover isn't much to look at otherwise. C

My rating : 4 of 5 This was really enjoyable although I hated peter and his practical worship of his father. There were some bad words in it but I didn't mind much since it is a verse novel while not up to “The gift” Standards “The wolf” is a really good story

Timeless

Timeless - Alexandra Monir

Timeless

Characters: Michele, Phillip, Cassie, Michele is frustrating she is the kind of character you just want to shake and say “GET A GRIP” but she is also creative, smart, forlorn, grieving, moping around, and she just wants to make the most out of her new life she is smack in the middle leaves above bella swan but levels below Katniss or hermononie. Phillip is the love interest he is strong and love michele and music he is hot and amazing and mysterious. Cassie is the BFF character and The side characters of past and present are so colorful there voices come alive before you even realize it these characters make history fun B

Story: Wow. Michele windsor goes to live with her grandparents after a tragic accident happens and it's a whirlwind from there. This story is one of a kind it does start off slow and maybe even predicable. But this is a love story at it's finest holding true to the quote “ if you love them you'll let them go” to the upmost this is not a twilight Bella edward teenage lust kind of relationship this is true love the kind of love some people have or wish they had. This story has a bit of everything Mystery, historical fiction, time travel, some aspects of cont YA, and Romance. Some people especially fans of time travel and Doctor who may question a lot of what happens like why is it that Michele could touch people in her family from the past or why the time travel was inconsistent or why Michele helping people in the past didn't mess up her future or send reapers after her) ect. The romance is sweet innocent and tender although frustrating especially after a big mystery is solved it's almost heart breaking. This novel is well written and very detailed but not so much that you lose interest in it. If you disliked “Through her eyes” then be warned that there are heavy (although it is clearly a coincidence) parallels between the two but then it breaks off and gives us a whole bunch of new different things to be frustrated at.

The ending gives us hope and that big TO BE COUNITUED slapped on the last page means that even if you are content with the story (which wouldn't be hard to believe) that it does in fact continue

Over all the hype is worth it this is a good read especially for those who believe in the word “Soulmates” B+

Cover: Breathtakingly gorgeous with different hues of blues and blue greens Michele on the front cover surrounded by clouds and stars. The cover is simply stunning the model is beautiful and normally the back of the book is the back of the book nothing to talk about which is why this only talks about the covers of books since the back of books is normally plain...not this time if you flip “Timeless” over you get a stunning picture of the moon and stars and a man (Phillip?) silhouetted with trees around him. This is one pf THE best covers even if the girl on the front of a YA book has been used to death this one still shines A+

My rating : 4 of 5 easy this one didn't take me long and I promise there is no switching this to 3 stars this book deserves the four stars. No doubt about it this book is magical and amazing even for people like me who don't like historical fiction can find something to like about this book. I couldn't put it down it was good I was thinking about it when I wasn't reading it and I picked it up and read it before doing anything else in the morning (I haven't had a book like that since Mockingjay) Some things bugged me to no end the relationship between Phillip and michele for instance really got on my nerves at times or the revelation about her father that I knew after chapter ONE and I KNEW something I can't say but point is the fact that it took her till chapter 17-18 to figure it out was annoying. Also the fact that we don't really get a clear idea about him and how he is connected to the key and time travel is annoying This review is over but I'm going to rant about some things in my other blog so yes

The sea of monsters

The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series #2) -

The sea of monsters review

Characters: Percy, annabeth, grover, and new characters. Percy is still percy he hasn't really changed much since the last book still makes stupid moves and mistakes but at the same time is coming to terms with who his father is and what that really means. Annabeth is still as smart as ever this time around we learn more about her past and her flaws she seems more well alive and human and you feel for her. Grover was a side character but also a major player you feel for him and feel scared for him and percy. We get introduced to some new characters one of which is tyson. Tyson is like the lenny of this story though much smarter then that in some ways it's kind of hard to feel anything towerds him because he seemes like a throwaway character so you expect that to happen any time during the story. Another character is introduced but that would be spoliers to anyone who hasn't read the book series yet B

Story: Unique and predictably unpredictable Percy and annabeth are back with a new friend tyson. This is a action adventure story with dislikeable jerks, friends, surprises, and twists and turns that you don't see coming. This is a fast past can't put it down story but it felt lacking in some ways you are promised an adventure to save the camp and grover and you get that but in someways it lingered on some sceans that didn't really need to be as long and could have been cut shorter. Some things were introduced which hopefully get explained more as the books go on because they sadly didn't get explained here. The use of the Odyssey story woven in was brilliant and exciting for any of you who have had to have read that in 9thgrade. You also get myths that you may not know of making you want to go and read them just to get a clue of what they are referring too. Nothing more can be said other then this was a fast pase story and a great sequle to the series and makes you want more B+

Cover: very orange and detailed most likely you've seen this (and the other books of this series) cover so many times your sick of it but if you look closer that is a BIG eye looking at grover, percy and annabeth crossing a bridge it is very highly detailed and eye catching (no pun intended..ok maybe a little) B-

My rating : 4 of 5 Rick riordan is officially one of my favorite authors ever. Just when you think you know where the story is heading just when you think it is same old and predicable it throws all the predictability out the window and hits it with lighting XD I had a blast reading this and couldn't put it down for a second I am warning you all ...NOW: My review of book three on word WILL have spoilers at least for the characters so if you don't want to well be spoiled do not read my book three review till you have read books 1 and 2 (this should be obvius but you would be surprised how many people -myself included- read reviews for every book in a trilogy or series and end up spoiling/ruining it for themselves. Just thought I gave you a warning and I'll give you another one before book three.

The story was action packed and the ending... what twist I did a stupid thing of A. looking at fan art when I wasn't even done with book one and B. reading the first sentence of book three two things that kinda ruined the surprise but made it even better. I'm not going to say why but omgosh it is going to be so HARD to make an original Goth character now and I think I might now have a new fave character though I think I should change my Fave character post list thing to include girls too now because it's so hard to not post some characters (like katniss).

PS. I'm sorry this isn't a long detailed review but really this book isn't a sit down and think about the deeper meaning kind of book this is a quick read book a beach read kind of deal. Nevermore, Shiver, The ghost of ashbury high, and Angel star were all long gush fests because they envoked emotion in me THAT is why this normally isn't the case with 4 star books
