Runaways, Vol. 5: Escape to New York

Runaways, Vol. 5: Escape to New York - Takeshi Miyazawa, Adrian Alphona, Brian K. Vaughan

Runaways vol 5 #7-12

Art: Art shift this time the other way around the first two comics look and read and feel like a colored manga the art work there is gorgeous, pretty and you get a feel for the character ages and looks and victor cleans up real nice in manga style. It then changes back to the realistic recess style and it's not only jarring but it throws you for a loop not even a cover page break just boom different art style however that was due to a missing page there was in fact a page break with the cover that was missing B-

Characters: Karolina come out of the closet although it seems one member knew already karolina is a lesbian. Chase is officially in love with gertrude and only her, molly and gertrude are still the same old lace is still awesome. Nico is confused on a lot of things especially who she loves. The characters have changed and matured have found and lost family a member leaves which would have been more sadding if it weren't for the fact that you know she comes back later on the story is went from character driven to plot driven which hinders who these characters are a bit B-

Story: Similar to the artwork the story could have been a bit confusing or what moments due to possible missing pages nothing the writer did. This story though seemingly filler during issues 9-12 were entertaining with a mystery and cameo's by wolverine, spiderman, and a few others the story is fast paste and and a fun read while no depth was added to the characters or the plot we find that there is a “new” pride and that one of the runaways will die. The cliffhanger will make you want to come back to this story even if you are a bit hesitant since later down the line things go sour this story alone is well worth counting B

Cover: Again lovely with nico in a black dress all gothed out with her staff of one out looking ticked off flying at the viewer very eye caching and nice A

Rating: T for teen

Company: Marvel

My rating : 4 of 5 the issue I had was missing a few pages which sucks because I missed molly throwing wolverine out of a church literally and wolverine looks Mexican I mean what id up with that mini mustache thing Sorry for lack of review on this but really there is nothing to be said other then this was a good yet out of no where mystery it didn't add to the story form 9-12 it was just a fun read comics 7 and 8 was nice with the artwork and out of nowhere with the character leaving but it didn't feel bad since you and I both know she comes back also the revelation that K is a lesbian is kinda well “duh” it was obvious she was crushing on nico from comic one
